Acupuncture
An Esoteric Acupuncture sacred geometry pattern is gently placed on your body with needles and you are guided through a brief visualization connecting the points. Additional acupuncture points are placed as necessary to support you, such as localized needles for back pain or knee pain. While you relax, I will quietly sit elsewhere, meditating and holding positive intention for the session. When I return, I often needle the other side of the body, as well as offer acupressure massage, tuning forks, toning and/or singing to help the body integrate.
Moxibustion
Also known as moxa, moxibustion is the burning of the dried mugwort herb on or next to your body. I use high quality, ultra pure Japanese moxa that is placed on the ends of needles or else rolled into small cones that are placed directly onto the body over a layer of herbal salve. The cones are removed before burning the skin, while the direct dry heat penetrates your body at that particular point. This is helpful for many pain conditions especially in the joints, as well as for boosting the immune system.
Fire cupping & suction gun cupping
Fire cupping is the placement of glass cups suctioned onto the body, generally the back. A flame is passed quickly into the cup, creating a suction that draws up the the fascia layer. Releasing tension, the suction creates a bruised effect from dark pink to dark red, to dark purple. This is seen as a positive effect, as the body will flush out these stagnant areas of tension. I prefer to use a combination of moving cups and stationary cups simultaneously. For targeting specific areas on the limbs that glass cups are too large for, I use a smaller set of plastic cups that use a suction gun.
Gua Sha
Gua Sha has been used for centuries throughout Asia and means “to rub” or “press-stroke”. It is also known as scraping, coining, and spooning. With a smooth-edged tool, repeated pressing strokes are performed over lubricated areas of the body, releasing stagnation trapped in the fascia layer. Similar to cupping, pinkness or redness of varying darkness will appear on the skin that will resolve in a few days. With gua sha, the whole pain path can be followed. For example, with sciatica, the low back, hip area and down the leg would be treated. Gua sha resolves spasms, pain and stiffness and promotes normal circulation to the muscles and tissues that are treated.
"Qi-Infusion" electro-acupuncture
This has been one of my favorite tools to implement to help nourish and assist clients. When there is a defiency of Qi in our acupuncture channels, symptoms and challenges manifest. So, with high quality electro-acupuncture machines, acupuncture channels are filled up with beneficial Qi. Depending on the frequency and channels chosen, your body is encouraged to produce more beta-endorpins and natural opioids to relieve pain, GABA to calm and relax. Plus the immune system can be activated to do clean-up. I like to use two machines so that harmonics are created between their 2 frequencies, allowing your body to choose which frequencies it wants. These machines are very different than TENS in that they deliver a high voltage and low amps, to better match the body; whereas TENS machines are low voltage and high amps.
What is Esoteric Acupuncture?
Developed by Dr. Mikio Sankey, Esoteric Acupuncture works on the spiritual bodies with an aim to expand consciousness, balance the chakras and open the heart. During a treatment, sacred geometry encoding patterns, or grids, are placed on the body in a specific sequence to activate codes within the body, helping people to connect with their inner knowing and higher purpose. This is beneficial in getting to the root of a problem, and the first step in transformative change.
“Esoteric Acupuncture is not merely another form of acupuncture treatment. Esoteric Acupuncture defines a “way of life.” This way of life emphasizes the awakening and expansion of our spiritual center (not the same as religions). This way of life includes the importance of understanding the vibrational frequencies of the foods and drinks we ingest. Everything we eat and drink shapes our multiple energy fields. It is important to only ingest foods of the cleanest and highest vibrations. Energy is transported through our hands, fingers and mind through the acupuncture needle into the client. Energy is a transporter of information. What information are you transmitting to your client?” – Dr. Mikio Sankey esotericacupuncture.com
